Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Ingredients
16 ounces milk chocolate chips
2 tablespoons shortening
1 pound fresh strawberries with leaves
Directions
Insert toothpicks into the tops of the strawberries. In a double boiler* melt the chocolate and shortening, stirring occasionally until smooth. Holding them by the toothpicks, dip the strawberries into the chocolate mixture. Place strawberries down on a piece of wax paper. If you want a more flawless effect turn strawberries upside down and insert the toothpick into a piece of Styrofoam for the chocolate to cool. Finding yourself in a rush? Place the whole batch in the freezer for 20 minutes to speed up the process.
*If you don't have a double boiler, fill one pot with boiling water, and place a metal bowl/pot over the it, boom homemade double boiler.
