Perfectmatch has been around on the online dating scene for quite a while, having made itself famous with lots of TV promotions and practically a supporting actor role in the movie "Must Love Dogs".

With some four million members, Perfectmatch.com may very well be able to find you that, uh, perfect match. It starts off with well-developed profiles that have more than just the usual age/sex/location/drinking habits/political affiliation thing - you can choose from a bunch of terms "about me" to describe yourself that you think are good (e.g. funny, rational, etc.) and things not so good (financially unstable, shy, etc.).

Perfectmatch also has what it calls a "Duet"summary, a personality test that rates you on categories such as flexibility, decision making style, self-nurturing, romantic impulsivity, and so on. Duet will compare you with potential matches and let you know where you match and where you may have some difficulties.

All of this is great stuff that makes Perfectmatch a useful tool for those online daters who are perhaps looking for a more serious relationship. If there’s a criticism to be made, there's actually two. One, Perfectmatch isn't the cheapest online dating site. Two, it doesn't allow you to contact or "icebreak" potential matches without getting a paid subscription.

That said, Perfectmatch will allow you to use icebreakers to contact either members that the site has found as matches for you or members that contact you on their own, and this is a good place to start!
